Is it even an opening night if there are no glitches?
August 4, 2025 – We completed the sound and equipment check that morning
and all went well. Our equipment is compatible with their equipment and so we
begin the final countdown to launch of BINGO at The Pour House Tavern. For
several weeks now we’ve been advertising and promoting our new BINGO
location. Everything about it is perfect! Location, menu, following, and we are
set! We had decided to throw in some new activities for this BINGO since it was
the opening night. We have amazing fun gifts for all the winners, free return
player bingo cards to hand out and so much. What could go wrong? I went about
my day without a care in the world.
Well, let me tell you ‘What could go wrong’ … First, we ran out of change. How
does that even happen? I have never run out of change before and my normally
peaceful sales were suddenly ground to a halt!! I could feel my heartbeat and
blood pressure rising as first 3, then 5, then 10 people were waiting for me to
figure this out so we could get started!! WHAT am I going to DO!! Then, after a
moment or so of panic (with a ever growing line) I remembered that I had one’s
and five’s in my backpack that I hadn’t done anything with yet… so with a crisis
averted, change retrieved, the line is moving again…
We have our first game winner!! Game one pays out $75.00 dollars and a prize!!
Our winner is excited and we select game 2. Everything is running smooth and
once again my confidence soars. Starting game 2 (this game has no ‘N’s … and
what happens? Of course we get 2 ‘N’s in a row… sigh, ‘hold please… ‘ Okay a
little programming change and we’re off to the races, until ….. our microphone
dies!! You’ve got to be kidding me… Good thing we’ve got good strong voices!
Onward!! At this point I’m just rolling with the punches. We make it through the
rest of the night and our final blackout Bingo is $225.00 dollars!!
All in all a great first night for BINGO and we’re super excited to be back next
week where hopefully the technical issues
